Dear Tavin: 2.5 years!

Dear Tavin,

I can't believe how fast time is flying!  It seems like just yesterday we were bringing you home from the hospital wondering "what the heck did we get ourselves in to?"

But here we are!  Every day is a new journey with you.  You are learning new words, testing our patience and limits, and making us laugh.

You are growing in to a little man.  Saying "bless you" when someone sneezes, "excuse me" when you fart/burp, and "please" and "thank you" regularly.

You have been a great big brother to Olivia.  Asking "ma holda baby?" often and getting burp rags and other things for her.

You have obsessions with anything trucks, heavy equipment/tractors, slides (you still say "wee"), balls, and cameras.   And of course, you are all boy, picking up frogs and other bugs.

You are starting to say names of everyone in the family.  So cute to watch you recognize and put names to faces.

You and Daisy still have a love/hate relationship.  Often times I will find you two snuggled up on the couch only to hear a few seconds later "Daisy bite me".  And you enjoy taking "adie jane" for walks.

Although it seems you are so grown up, you have a long way to go which I am completely ok with. You still have little interest in the "potty" and you have yet to perfect dressing yourself.

Thank you for picking me as your Mama.  I can't imagine my life without you!
Love,
Mama

Dear Olivia: Month 4

Dear Olivia,

I really don't know where the time goes!  Just today (August 18) I finally got your 2 month and 3 month recaps up.  While I had them mostly done, it still sucks that I didn't get around to posting them sooner.

Anyway, back to YOU!  You are now 4 months!!!  You are still the sweetest of babies!

This month has been a little less hectic.   A trip to Grandma and Grandpas, a trip to Rhinelander, and a couple weekends at home.

You are still sleeping great.  A couple times a week you are up once during the night.  And you are pretty easy to put down for naps.  You don't really like to be held when you are tired.  You are just ready to lay in bed so you can get comfy and fall asleep.  I miss the snuggles but I know it's best for you.

Speaking of sleep, the reason you are so content putting yourself to sleep is because you found your....thumb!  Eeek!  Hopefully it is a short lived thing and we aren't dealing with it years down the road.

In other news, you are rolling over!  You were pretty close the weekend of the 23rd and 24th.  When I picked you up from daycare on Monday they said you did it!  From your back to your stomach!  A week later, you secretly rolled from your stomach to back.  We have yet to see it but you managed to get around our living room doing it!

In the last weekend of August, we decided to take a road trip to go shopping in Oshkosh.  We found out that you aren't a fan of long rides.  Part of me thinks that you are getting motion sickness as I started to show signs of motion sickness when I was your age.  I guess time will tell!

Your likes:
  • As soon as you are laid on the floor, you roll over, which means more tummy time!  You still only tolerate a few minutes before you start screaming.
  • You are starting to notice the furbabies.  So funny to watch you try to figure them out.
Your dislikes:
  • Long car rides :(

Love,
Mama

PS:  I realized after doing this post that I only have a few pictures of you from this month :(  I MUST do better!
