3rd Anniversary

7 years by each other's side, 2 I mean 3 years (apparently time has flow so fast that I initially stated it wrong...ooopes)  married and we are still going strong!  Love it!

We decided to do a short get away for our anniversary and headed to Wisconsin Dells without....wait for it.....Tavin!!!  ::gasp::  He spent the weekend with grandma and grandpa and apparently had a blast!

Now the last time I was to the Dells I was a wee one and just remember a few of the pictures (hair standing on end, feeding the animals).  The Dells these years is something a bit cray-cray.  No seriously.  This place has exploded! Sort of like Disneyland Wisconsin style.

Since we visited in the "off season"  there wasn't much open but just enough to fill our day and half that we had to spend.

Upon arrival, we stopped to eat.  Then went on the Lost Canyon Tour.  It was pretty cool and I'd highly recommend for anyone visiting.

Next stop was Pirate's Cove Mini-golf.  Nothing to exciting to take note of but it was just nice to be outside!

We then walked Main Street and stopped at the Mirror Maze.  That place is a trip!

After that we started looking for a place to eat.  Stopped at a few to look at the menu but nothing seemed appetizing until we ran into The Alamo.   The food was superb!  It was like a low-key Texas Roadhouse.  It was perfect!

The evening festivities included a trip to Chula Vista.  Thanks to the hotel we stayed at we got free passes.  It was a good time.  It wasn't too busy.  But man oh man, the things people do.

Sunday we got up at our normal time (thanks internal clocks) and headed out to breakfast at Perkins.  It was actually a great meal.

Then last but not least, stopped for a little shopping at the Outlet Malls.  Not at all impressed with the store selection but we did manage to score a couple good deals.

And that was it.  Our little getaway in a nutshell!  Would we visit again?  Maybe.  But for sure go when Tavin is a little older so he can enjoy everything.

Happy 40th Anniversary!

On October 16, we celebrated my parents 40th Anniversary!  Yep, you read that right 4-0 years of being married.  In today's "let's just split" mindset, this is AMAZING!  I'm so proud of my parents and was more than happy to help them celebrate!

My dad came to my sister and I earlier this year and asked for our help in surprising my mom with a renewal of vows and little get together afterwards.  So we planned and schemed, invites were sent, reservations were made, and my mom knew NOTHING (well for the most part until our lunch reservation called the home number and talked to my mom).

Shaun and I went home for the weekend using the cover of a dodgeball tournament.  My mom had off the entire week and was pretty crabby when we got there on Friday.  She apparently took off thinking her and Dad were going somewhere....oopsie!

Saturday arrived and so did their first surprise...a brand new kitchen table!!  Shortly after the delivery people arrived so did my sister and her family!  My mom was SHOCKED!

Then Sunday came.  She still didn't know what my dad had planned until we told her at breakfast.  When Dad told her they were renewing her vows she looked at him and said "No we are not!" and then started tearing up!  It was actually pretty funny.

We arrived at church and helped put on their corsages (which amazingly lasted a long time!)

I had my cousin take some pictures during the day as well, but haven't gotten them from her.  So when I do, I'll post an update with my favorite from the day!

Happy Anniversary to Shmel!!

Our 5 year dating anniversary was on April 21.  I didn't think Shaun had remembered because neither of us said anything in the morning :(  But he suprised me at work by dropping off some flowers!  He usually doesn't get me flowers because I say that they are a waste because they just die, but it's nice to still get them!

Then on Easter, April 24th was our first anniversary as husband and wife.  It sure has been a rough year!  But being able to spend the entire weekend with each other and doing whatever we wanted when we wanted was great!

Saturday we accomplished some odds and ends around the house, walked the dogs, watched a movie, went out to eat (El Mezcal of course!).

Sunday we went to church, out to eat for an Easter Brunch (what a story that is!), walked the dogs 5+ miles, and then my favoritist (is that a word?) part:  laid in the sun in our hammock for a couple hours!  It was like our little slice of an actual vacation.

We also enjoyed some wedding food.  The cake of course, which was still really good. And also our wedding meal.  My mom had frozen some and surprisingly it tasted really good, better than our Easter Brunch!
