Tavin's 4th Birthday!

So I have not been so good at keeping up with this blog this year.  Our lives have been crazy hectic!  But I'm trying to catch up!

Last picture as a 3 year old:

Tavin opening a present on his birthday:

We celebrated Tavin's birthday on March 19 :)  Crazy to think he is now 4!

Shaun made the cake!  He did such a great job!

Tavin was entertaining us on his birthday!

November

November 1:  Shaun left for Denver in the morning.  He was gone until Wednesday.

November 6: Olivia had her 18 month check up.  She's looking great and growing right on track!
We also surprised my sister for her 40th birthday by meeting up with them for dinner.

November 7:  I went out shopping with Tavin and Livie while Shaun got supper ready and Tavin insisted that I take their picture in the back of the car.  It was the first time Livie actually said "cheese".  Best picture in a long time of both of them!

November 10:  We dropped Livie off early at daycare to take Tavin to an eye appointment.  His eyes look great!  Dr. said he actually has 20/20 vision with a slight astigmatism in the right eye.  He needs to come back once a year now.  Such a relief!  Upon dropping Tavin back off at daycare, found out that Livie hurt herself! The full story is here.

November 14:   We went to watch the sled dog races but when we got there at 1:30 they were pretty much done :(  So we made the most out of it and stopped at Briq's :)

November 15:  Shaun left for Denver (again) for a week.  My mom and dad were able to come over for a couple days before having to go back home to take care of Griffin.

November 16:  Tavin was fine when he woke up in the morning and was good all day at daycare.  After supper, he spiked a fever and said his throat hurt.  Thankfully he slept really good but he still woke up with a fever in the morning.

November 17:  I called Teladoc and was able to get a prescription for antibiotics since I was pretty sure Tavin had strep.  When I had dropped the medicine off after lunch, Tavin was not doing good.  Thankfully by the time I came home he looked and was feeling much better.

November 21:  The kids and I went to the mall to check out the Children's Museum.  We had a decent day until Shaun got back from Denver around 6.

November 26:  Thanksgiving!  We went home to my parents house and had a great time with great food!

October Recap

October 2:  The last of Livie's freezer stash was used today.  I'm glad that I had an over supply before she stopped nursing.  My next goal is to continue pumping until she is 18 months, which means one more month left!

October 3:  Shaun took Tavin to Home Depot to build a fire truck and when they were done they got to see a real fire truck, ambulance, and the helicopter!

After they got home we went to Harvestfest on the 400 block.  We got to pick out pumpkins and go for a horse drawn carriage ride.

October 10:  Mom and Dad came over and we all went to Grandpa's Farm for the afternoon.  Both kids did great considering we were skipping the afternoon naps.

That night, Shaun and I got to go out on a date--Caribbean night for the Good News Project and then we caught a movie (The Martian).

October 13:  While we were eating supper Tavin leaned over and said "Go to Briqs?"  Ugh it's so hard to deny when he asks!  Good thing they are closing the end of the month!  Livie had her first hair cut today!  Her "bangs" were getting so long and kept falling in her eyes and she wouldn't leave it in a ponytail.

October 15: Unfortunately I didn't make my goal of pumping until next month.  Today was my last day pumping.  I have exclusively pumped for 78 days (breastfed/pumped for 529 days-just 71 less than with Tavin) which is an amazing feat for this far in our breastfeeding journey. It is not how I wanted my breastfeeding to end but when your child dictates the journey, you just go with it.  While I'm sad to be done breastfeeding, I'm so happy that I will not be hooked to the wall for extended periods and even happier we don't have to wash pump parts every.single.day!

October 16:  We had church pictures tonight.  The photographer was less than ideal.  Commenting how she had "never had a family with 2 little kids and a dog".  Then while we were choosing pictures for our photo card she was unable to do what we had wanted so Shaun and I were quietly discussing what to do and she said "if you would talk louder, I might be able to help you".   Seriously lady?!?!

October 17:  We went to Fleet Farm's toyland in the morning and we weren't putting anything in our cart.  Tavin asked why everyone else had stuff in their carts but we didn't.  The kid is too smart!

October 18:  Tavin again asked to go to Briq's!!  I told Shaun he's probably stocking up before it closes.  We also picked the last of the apples off the tree and started to get some things ready for winter (Christmas lights up, lawnmower away, etc).

October 24:  We went home to my parent's for their Harvest Days.  It was a nasty raining morning but we still got out to see the petting zoo and candy drop.  We left right after the candy drop to go home and warm up.

October 25:  We went to the Halloween parade.  Tavin enjoyed himself and did such a great job.  Livie hung out in Grandma's arms the whole time.

October 31:  We went home for the day as we had a funeral for my uncle to attend.  We left my parents around 4 to get back to our house to eat supper and then go trick or treating.  Livie was unsure at first but after a few houses she got the hang of it.  Unfortunately it was a cold and rainy day (again) so we didn't stay out long.

September Recap

How is it September already??

September 3: Shaun had won tickets to the Packer game.  We left work early to make a few stops before the game and go out to eat.  Well we made our stops but never made it out to eat because when we were about 15 minutes from Green Bay Shaun realized we did not have tickets!!!!  Oh what memories that created!  We eventually made it to the game and had a fun time during the game and after when we had a few margaritas.

September 4:  Daycare was out sick today.  Stayed home with the kiddos and did a few things around the house.

September 5:  Helped my sister move into her new house!  So excited for them!  The kids did awesome with all that was going on.  Both did not nap in the afternoon but fell asleep on the way home (with me in between them)!

September 6:  We hung out around the house.  Nothing on the schedule/planned other than get a few things done on our list.

September 9:  Tavin woke up screaming and having a croupy type of coughing spell.  We had to take him outside to help open up his airway.   Thank God for the new swing we bought.  It helped calm him down and fall back asleep.  In the morning, I asked him if he felt okay.  He said "Yeah.  I was just stomping on ants but they got into my throat."  I hope he doesn't have more episodes like this!

September 10:  Tavin insisted that we go out to eat tonight.  I made a deal with him earlier in the day that if he got his hair cut we could go out to eat.  Well we didn't get his haircut but he still wanted to go out to eat.  Surprisingly he picked a different restaurant than El Mezcal, iHop.

September 12:  Went to my parent's house for the weekend for a wedding and baptism.

September 13:  We had just finished eating supper and Livie was getting ready to play in the dog's water bowl.  I told her no a couple of times and then squirted the water bottle in her direction (I didn't actually hit her, maybe brushed the back of her hair), and she looked at Shaun with the most pitiful look.  Like "Dad, did you see what Mom just did? Unbelievable!".  It was hilarious!

September 14: We were eating supper and told Tavin to "eat your potatoes.  They are just like french fries!".  His reply, "NO!  THEY ARE NOT FRENCH FRIES!  THEY ARE POTATOES!"  He had such a serious, "I'm right" look on his face.  It was so funny!

September 15:  I took the kids to Roni's volleyball game.  They did great for the most part.  Tavin enjoyed catching the balls during serving practice.  Afterwards, we went out to eat with Keith, Syd, and Roni.

September 16: Tavin is officially 3 1/2!!  He is still a Mama's Boy, still loves to cuddle, and is such a sweetheart (most of the time).

September 30:  We were getting ready for a walk and we heard the gun shots from the duck hunters.  Tavin asked and we told him what it was.  While on the walk if he heard the gun shots he would yell "STOP IT NOW" and then say we need to go find them because they aren't listening.

August Recap

August 1:  We went to a housewarming/baby shower for one of our friends.  We did not stay long but it was a nice day.

August 2:  While Shaun was getting supper ready I was in the backyard playing with the kids and Livie got a little too dirty so we had to clean her off.  She was a huge fan of the little bucket bath!  Tavin helped spray her off too!

August 6:  Olivia had her 15 month check up.  She is still not nursing and doctor said she is likely done :(  It's been an emotional struggle to say the least.  Thankfully she made it to the 12 month mark.  I'm down to pumping twice a day so we'll see how long I can keep up with that.  Livie weighs 26 pounds.  Tavin also weighed himself and he was at 38 pounds.  Livie had shots and blood drawn.  Needless to say she was not a happy camper afterwards.

August 7:  Shaun went to the doctor today.  Diagnosed with bronchitis and strep!!!  Crazy that we are dealing with this type of stuff in the summer!

August 8:  I woke up with a sore throat.  Thankfully we have a program through Shaun's work where I could just call and talk to a doc and he sent in the prescription for me.  We had a baby shower for one of Shaun's cousins in Rhinelander.  It was a nice drive.  Shower was interesting.  After 5 games, we left.  Way too many for me!

August 9:  Shaun and Tavin went to the movies, Home, and I stayed home with Livie while she napped.  I got quite a bit of stuff done and picked up.  After the movie, we met for some pizza and shopping.  Tried to convince Tavin to take a nap by saying we could go get ice cream but he refused saying "me not tired!".

August 11:  We took the kids to Kaiser Pool for a free swim day.  Stopped at a local ice cream shop for some ice cream.

August 12:   We went to Briq's for ice cream as it was the first of their free ice cream days.  It was Penny's first and last trip with us too.  She enjoyed it!

August 15:  I took Tavin grocery shopping with me.  He kept wandering around and I warned him several times to stay close.  So the last time I just let him go, a little while later I could hear him running and yelling "mama where are you".  Thankfully he ended up at the service desk with some employees.  After that, he stuck really close!

Penny went to her forever home today!  She seemed like she didn't want to leave.  Shaun and I both commented on how quiet it was in the house after she left.  No more yelling for Penny to leave Livie alone and no more constant tail slamming into the door.

August 16:  Shaun's half sister and her entire family came over for lunch.  It was a great visit and Tavin really enjoyed his new older cousins!  Shaun left for Denver (again) in the evening.

August 17:  Livie woke up with a 101 fever!!  No idea where it came from and so abnormal for her as she usually doesn't run fevers.  Around 11 I got a call from daycare saying Tavin was running a 102 fever and had fallen asleep in the rocking chair!!  Fever is normal, him falling asleep in the chair totally not normal.  I quick called Grandma and had her come right away instead of later in the week.  Livie slept most of the day and I even laid her down for bed at 5:30!  For historical purposes, every time Shaun goes to Denver the kid/s have been sick.  The first two times it was both vomiting.

August 18:   Livie woke up fever-free but still out of sorts.  Tavin still had a high fever.  Grandma graciously said she'd stay with them and I'd come home at lunch to help out and check on them.  Grandma called around 10 and said Tavin fell asleep but is fever free and Livie just woke up and was still fever free.

August 19:  Both kids went to daycare.

August 20:  Tavin woke up feeling fine but nicely asked if he could stay home with Grandma. I told him he needed to ask Grandma.  She obliged so Livie went to daycare and Tavin spent a whole day with just Grandma.

August 22: Shaun came back home.  Livie was super excited to see him, but Tavin was just like whatever.

August 28-30:  Went home to my parents.  We did not have much planned.  Shaun and I were able to sneak out to the movies on Friday  night.  Saturday we chilled and Sunday we went to Cornfest in Loyal.  Both kids did not nap in the van so it made for an early night when we got home.

July Recap

July 2:  We were driving home to my parents house and in the car I asked Tavin if he was going to let Grandma cut his hair.  He replied "No, me just hold it back like this.  Me good."  He was holding the front of his hair up and back away from his face.

July 3: Our pre-July 4th party.  It was an absolute perfect day with family!

July 4:  I scheduled a photographer to take pictures of the entire family.  Not often that we can make this happen and it's been 5+ years.  The pictures turned out great despite not knowing how to pose people.

That afternoon we got the bouncy/slide house out.  Everyone had fun!

That night the family was going into town for the fireworks.  I stayed home with Livie as she was sleeping.  Strangest thing happened.  She woke up around 9:30 and would not fall back asleep for anything!  So I loaded her up in the car and meet the family for fireworks.  After we got home, Livie fussed a little but went right to sleep.  Little Miss did not want to miss out on anything!!

July 6:  I had picked the kids up from daycare and Sadie was sitting in between them.  Out of nowhere he said "Sadie needs a friend".  I asked what kind of friend and he replied "a doggie friend".

July 10:  Mom and Dad were in town so we took them to BalloonFest.  It was very neat to see!

July 11:  Shaun and I ran our first 5k together.  I made pretty good time considering I wasn't fully ready for it - 34 minutes.  After running we ran some errands and then got the call to pick up a foster dog.  It's our first foster since Tavin was born!

July 18:  We had the Easter Seals volleyball tournament.  It was quite a warm day and we sucked!  But we had fun playing!

July 19:  We went to Colby Cheese Days with my parents.  Tavin had an absolute blast!  Livie was quite vocal that she didn't get to go on the rides with Tavin.

July 20:  Tavin woke up pretty sick so Shaun stayed home with him.  I got a call from daycare around 4 that Livie spiked a fever (over 100) so I had to pick her up.
July 21:  Grandma and Grandpa came over to watch them so Shaun and I could go to work.
July 22:  Livie still wasn't feeling great so I stayed home with her.  Tavin went to daycare, Shaun started to get sick.
July 23: Both kids back at daycare, both Shaun and I got sick!

July 25:  I asked Tavin how he feels about Penny going to a different house to live.  He got really upset and said "NO!  Penny stay with us".   We had Griffin's baptism.  He's so adorable, but man he really likes to scream/cry!

July 26:  We went to the Medford Fair for a couple hours.  Tavin did a few rides (again) and one game.  He did well most of the afternoon.  He fell asleep on the way home (as did Livie) and woke up crabby.  We ate a quick supper and took the dogs for a short walk.  It was rather hot out and on the way back to the house a complete meltdown ensued because he wanted it to snow and be winter time.  He even asked where his boots were!  It was so hard not to laugh.

July 27:  We all went to volleyball tonight.  Shaun watched the kids in the play area while I played.  When I was putting Livie to bed she refused to nurse :(

July 28:  Day 1 of nursing strike.  Livie did not want to nurse in the morning and again at night.

July 30:  As I was getting ready for work, I heard the doorbell ring.  I come out of the bathroom and see a short little shadow outside of our front door.  I immediately knew it was Tavin and what happened.  He had climbed up a chair in his room and out the window.  His reason why he did it "me had to get acorns".  Tavin went to the dentist for his first real visit!  He did great.  A little scared/shy but they were able to get a little cleaning in.  He was so good the hygienist let him pick from the "big basket" of toys!

July 31:  Tavin AGAIN climbed through his window.  This time I told him he couldn't do it anymore because if someone saw him do it, they would call the police and take mommy and daddy to the naughty house (aka jail).
