'Tis that Time of Year!

Christmas is here again!  I'm super excited to be able to visit our families over the long weekend.  Shaun is actually off on Christmas Eve so we will be able to see his family in the morning and then go to mine in the afternoon!  First time that has happened since we've been together!

The only thing I'm not so excited about is my injury.....

I was working out Tuesday morning and was almost done when I felt a pull in my neck.  I paused the DVD and stretched it out a little bit and then continued with the workout.  I iced my neck while I ate breakfast.  As the day progressed, my neck got really bad.  I could hardly turn it to one side and it felt like someone was sending electric waves through me.  I took it pretty easy Tuesday night, icing some more.

Wednesday morning I woke up feeling pretty good but it got worse again.  I went to my masseuse and as she was working on me she said it was a doozy!  She's never felt anything like it before and walked out to call her chiropractic friend.  She came back and finished working on me.  I continued to ice throughout the afternoon.  Fighting back tears from the pain.  When I got to the chiro, he checked me out and took x-rays and said himself that it was pretty bad.  The x-rays showed my spine curving significantly to the right.  It looked like it was off by almost an inch!!  He called it torticollis (basically a twisted neck).  He then proceeded to adjust me.   Boy was that painful!  He hit the spot as it was beginning to spasm and the tears started to flow.  As soon as he was done I could feel the "lump" move from the side of my neck to the back.  I was in so much pain and so sore afterwards.

My prescription for the evening:  ice, rest, and relax.  Yeah right!  Good luck with that!  Anybody who knows me knows that I can't sit still for long!

Upon arising this morning, I was stiff but feeling a little better.  I go back to the chiropractor today and then again on Monday.  Ice will be my BFF this weekend.  Hopefully it gets better FAST so that I can get back to working out.  Not being able to work out + holiday treats = unhappy Mel!

Here's hoping that all our friends and family have a safe and Blessed Christmas!

Goodbye Wally!

During the biggest snowstorm of 2010 (yeah we got about 15 inches!), Shaun and I were sitting around the kitchen table.  He fiddling with his new bluetooth, me cutting out the stencil for Wally's I'm a Foster Dog, Ask About Adopting Me t-shirt.  When I received a call from an unknown number.

They were calling about Wally!

The lady said that they lost their 7 1/2 year old basset just a few weeks ago to a severe urinary tract infection that was misdiagnosed and wanted to adopt already!!  They are a retired couple who stays home all day and only leave for a few times a week for grocery trips, etc.  We talked for about 20 minutes.  She sounded very excited and wanted to pick up Wally ASAP!!  We scheduled to meet on December 14.  On Saturday night, I recorded a little video from Wally to his new forever home:

Between Saturday and Tuesday, she e-mailed me tons of questions about what he likes, what he eats, his habits, etc.  She said that they would be buying all NEW items for Wally and donating their old items to the humane society where they live.

While we were getting Wally ready he was getting uber cuddly with us.  He jumped up on Shaun's chest while Shaun was laying on my legs.

And Wally's last pictures with us before he left (and Sadie on the Queen's thrown):

We drove to meet them on Tuesday (in the bitter cold) and they were ready to take him!  No hesitation!  I'm so freakin' happy that Wally is finally going to be able to get the life he deserves!  I can't wait to see the pictures of him in his forever home.  We wish you the best of luck in your forever home!

December Margarita Night & Ying Yang Twins!!

Yep you read that right, another margarita night AND the Ying Yang Twins!!

This looks like Syd can't decide what to have!

Newbies!  Boy are they in for a treat!

Yes!  Another bad picture of me.  This time I was caught putting chap stick on!
Syd's cousins....looking like they had a long week!
 Oh!  Another newbie!

 MMMMMM...So GOOD!

Leanne's three-pronged fork.  It's amazing how she gets the defective silverware.  Maybe they just know!

Busted putting chips in my mouth!!  And FRED!  Caught on camera!
 Let the pouring competition begin!

 The newbies are officially bored!
Leanne made a boat for her margaritas...how special!

Now she's trying to make a hat for her head....

Just fabulous!  I can see it on the runway now!

I became cold....decided to bundle up!

We went through 7 pitchers of margaritas.  Thanks to the newest waitstaff who decided that mixing banana and strawberry on his own was the way to go for the odd number.

After margaritas we headed down to Stevens Point and the Steele Night Club for the Ying Yang Twins!

It appears that everyone forget to bring in their camera for the Ying Yang Twins so there is no footage of it :(  However, I will say that it was quite the concert.  We now know what real groupies are like, that "young" girls will do just about anything to get on stage, that "Yang" likes to get trashed before a concert and leave early, and "Ying" likes to bring girls back to the hotel room! How do we know that you ask?  Well we stayed in the same hotel and Leanne became the newest reporter for TMZ with updated text messages!  Too funny!

The evening was topped off with some Toppers pizza.  It's so good when you are drunk!!

Our next margarita night will be for Shaun's birthday--his golden birthday!!!!  Should be a doozy!

It's Beginning to Look....

  . . . A lot like Christmas!!

We actually got our tree up early this year! I think it is a first for our house!

It helps that the tree is fake so we don't have to worry about trekking out to get it and the needles falling off.  After decorating this tree I think I'm in love with the fake.  The ornaments are easier to place and it's pretty fun bending the branches!
