Chi-Town!!

Back in 2008 when I first started planning for our wedding I never imagined that I would "meet" such wonderful people on The Knot. One of those wonderful people happened to be Becki. Becki befriended me almost immediately. We talked daily and learned a lot about each other. We decided that after our weddings we would get together for a girls weekend. Enter Chicago!

We both flew in to Chicago. I was to arrive an hour earlier than Becki but surprisingly she had landed about 15 minutes after mine. The first moments of us seeing each other are like that in a movie.....look at each from a distance.....RUN......HUG! OMG I can't believe we're actually meeting each other in person!!

We waited for Becki's luggage and then headed to the hotel via the airport shuttle. The hotel attendant, Paul, is AWESOME!!! He was so funny and had the weirdest accent (found out later that it was Polish....or wait....what was it?)

Day #1 (Thursday): Agenda #1: Chicago style pizza!! Paul gave us some flyers for pizza places nearby that deliver. Decisions, decisions! We ended up going with Rosati's Pizza.
It was pretty tasty but we both were not a fan of the sauce on top...way to tomatoey...is that a real word?

Day #2 (Friday): Agenda: #2MJordan statue, #3Shedd's Aquarium, #4hot dogs, and #5Thunder!
We get up at the butt crack of dawn so we can get to Shedd's Aquarium and have plenty of time to explore.

But first, Agenda #2: Michael Jordan statue. One of Becki's friends/co-workers wanted us to get a picture so we detoured a little bit and snapped one:

Next, on to Agenda #3: Shedd's Aquarium. We arrive around 10:30 and there is a MASSIVE line. OH HELL NO we are not standing in that line in 90 degree weather. We head over to a table where we flashed our Explorer Pass and they say head right on in! YAY!! There is still a line inside but at least it is inside!

Next up on the Agenda #4: Hot Dogs (Chicago Style) at Franks 'N' Dawgs
This was Becki's that she took with her phone...

This place was literally hole in the wall size but it was AWESOME. The staff was super nice and the food was good.

And FINALLY what we waited so long for, Agenda #5: Thunder from Down Under!!!! Can't really complete a girl's weekend without half naked guys! It was an awesome show...except for the skanky pushy girls.....

Us before the show, cooling off with some drinks:

After the show we had one more drink and both decided we were SUPER exhausted. Time to journey to the hotel.....interesting when you aren't familiar with your location but yet want to blend in like a local.....creepy guy followed us for 2 blocks, get on the right bus but going the wrong way, then needing to use a restroom, walking forever to get to the subway and Becki "flirting" with a guy across the platform.....oh the memories!!

Day #3 (Saturday): Agenda: #6 Navy Pier, #7 Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant

We were able to sleep in a little later since we didn't have too much going on this day.

After arriving at Navy Pier we walked around a little bit and then decided to play some mini golf. I so won (thanks to my practice round at Valley Fair the few weeks before!)

Here's some shots of us pros:

Agenda #7: Bubba Gump Shrimp

"Forrest" was there too:

We did a few other things at Navy Pier: two person bike (FUN!!), Cirque du Soleil show, and of course walking around and see all the sights. We called it a day early and journeyed back to the hotel. Found out that Becki+public transportation=CRAZIES!! It was so hard not to laugh.

Day #4 (Sunday): was a chill day. Just waiting to fly back home.

The trip was a BLAST! Made some great memories and became great friends with Becki!!

But nothing beats coming home to my family. This was waiting for me:

Up next: Bassetfest!!
